Global Coordinating Office

Global Coordinating Office

"MADE is a global networking space connecting civil society organisations and movements around the world to speak out together for migrants' rights and against abuses, violations and racism; to speak out on changing the current narrative to one where migrants and diaspora are champions and drivers of vibrant societies and human development."

Wies Maas, ICMC

Global activities and actions are coordinated by the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) with an international team based in Brussels and Geneva.

Since 2011, upon the invitation of civil society partners and consecutive government Chairs, ICMC has acted Civil Society Coordinating Office for the Global Forum on Migration and Development. Since early 2014, the coordination of GFMD civil society activities has become part of MADE.

The Global Coordinating Office organises global activities and advocacy actions, facilitates networking and information-sharing and builds connections between the regional networks and global working groups, the International Steering Committee and partners worldwide. The Global Coordinating Office also undertakes fundraising to ensure sustainability.

In 2016, the MADE civil society network published the first edition of the Movement Report, providing an assessment of progress on civil society’s 5-year 8-point Plan of Action in its first two years, i.e. from the 2013 UN High Level Dialogue through September 2015. MADE, evaluated (twice) and moving forward

With the first three years of the Migration and Development (MADE) Civil Society Network ending in early 2017, two independent consultants conducted formal assessments of the work of the MADE programme from 2014 - 2016. The first consultant was hired by the European Commission, completing her Results Oriented Monitoring (ROM) Evaluation report in September 2016. The second consultant evaluator, retained as one of the commitments within the design of the MADE programme, completed her evaluation in March 2017. The objectives of both evaluations were to gather lessons learned and suggestions for the future of MADE from partners as well as from other stakeholders, particularly those that have worked with MADE in some capacity.
