Brainstorming session: Awareness raising on migrants' positive contributions

Europe is facing a crisis of irregular and dysfunctional migration and management, together with a continuing influx of refugees and economic migrants. With a regrettable increase in suspicion and fear among some European citizens and governments, this has often translated into increased xenophobia towards migrants and diaspora communities. The session will show that more investment in social cohesion and full integration of migrants can have higher societal and economic benefits for development.

Participants will share and debate different awareness raising approaches, including economic evaluations and evidence-based research, together with multimedia campaigns and a showcase of diaspora and migrant contributions that strengthen social cohesion and sustainable development.

The brainstorming session will be held on Thursday, June 16, 11:00 to 12:15 at the European Development Days in Brussels. Please register!
